How whole grain changed my life:

You might heard of wheat, barley but did you ever know millet, quinoa, buckwheat, sorghum?
You also can eat your rolled oat in original form, it's called oat groats.
As an Chinese Malaysian, we grew up eating white rice the most,
my grandpa has been eating white rice his whole life,
when I cook black purple rice,
he say "oh, they must be adding color additive to that rice"

  1. Chewing habit
    After I consuming whole grains,
    my eating window extend significantly,
    a meal normally took 5 minutes now 20 minutes,
    I always last one to finish in gathering.
    my chewing habit also transfer to normal food,
    that's totally subconscious meaning-I chew food for longer time without any intention effort

  2. Microbiome
    Breast milk, the third most common ingredient in it is something called an HMO, a human milk oligosaccharide.
    Human milk oligosaccharides are completely indigestible by babies.
    So why is the third most common ingredient in breast milk something that a baby can't even digest?
    It's because it's not there to feed the baby.
    It's there to feed the baby's gut bacteria and help those bacteria to repel dangerous bacteria.

    Chewy texture in whole grains came from fiber,
    fiber is a type of complex carbohydrate,
    our body can't digest it but the bacteria in our gut can,
    Prebiotics = Food for healthy gut microbes
    Probiotics = Microbes with beneficial qualities
    Postbiotics = Compounds produced by gut microbes
    Prebiotics + Probiotics = Postbiotics
    my stool has changed ever since I started whole food plant-based journey,
    it become soft no matter what I eat
